Our friendship with Tom, Betty and family goes back nearly fifty years to Battle Mountain, Nevada. Over the years there have been many cards, letters, telephone calls and visits. A couple months ago I talked to Betty on the telephone. Same Betty, chatting about her family and asking about ours. She was a wonderful Christian lady who we will greatly miss. Monday, July 10, 2017

I've known Betty since about 1968, when I was three or four years old. My family attended the Baptist church in Battle Mountain, Nevada where Tom was the pastor. As a little girl, I remember Betty being a character that was over the top enthusiastic and energetic in everything she did--mostly in being a pastor's wife and a mother. In recent years, Betty carried on her enthusiastic approach to life by sending "thought for the day" emails. I was always delighted to find Betty's emails in my inbox, wherein she oftentimes cited a Bible verse, and usually explained her thoughts about the verse or what was happening in her world. In one of her "thought for the day" messages she concluded by writing "God has given us good memories. Remember God loves us and wants the best for us. Blessings, Betty". To Rachel, Tommy, Becky, and Betty's grandchildren and great grandchildren--I wish you amazing memories of your Mom, just as I will treasure the memories of the blessings she brought to me through her caring and thoughtful communications.
