Verna Jean was part of my EVERY Sunday morning from the time I sat in church with Mother through my Jr. Choir Days and until graduation from H. S. She was the lead alto and often sang solos or duets with Lois Magee Deen Severe the star soprano. Mother and Daddy both sang in the choir, Daddy was a Bass so sat behind Verna Jean. So we often heard Thurs. Night quotes about Verna Jean or At Friday breakfast. I remember when she got pregnant the first time and we all were excited about that. I initially was very young, but clearly understood Verna Jean and her lovely voice and music talents were a gift for the First Methodist Church. She was also one that could always be counted on to carry through on her commitments. I can picture her face now in her younger days. Though I've lived away since 1959 she has remained a part of my vivid memories of my Perry history. May she Rest In Peace.
