Katherine “Kathy” L. Melton, 72, of Perry, Oklahoma left her journey from this life on Friday, February 15, 2019. Katherine was born July 25, 1946 in Wheatland, Wyoming, to parents Jack Winfield and Patsy (Grayson) Collard.
Kathy proved her worth as a woman of many talents through versatility and skill. Katherine’s years of employment included her time as a bus driver for Perry Public Schools, her work at the Perry Bakery, and the Perry Police Department as a dispatcher. Years ago Kathy also assisted with the management of Galaxy Skating Rink in Perry with her husband Bill, and if you spent the night with her children, you got to go for free. Her most recent, and longest run of employment was with Case and Associates as a Property Manager.
Kathy enjoyed watching the Thunder play basketball, and she also liked the OSU Cowboys. She liked flowers and butterflies and she loved her family and her little chihuahua terrier mix “Monty” who will be taken care of, and loved by her children.
Kathy is survived by her children Wesley Layton and wife Elizabeth, Desarea Thurston and husband Scott, and Larry Layton and wife Belinda, grandchildren Jerrad Layton, Jessica White, Heather Conrad, and Jacob Thurston. Great Grandchildren Evelyn Robbins, Clementine Layton, Theodore Layton, Hudson White, and Oliver Conrad. She is also survived by four sisters Sylvia Mills, Patsy Wiley, Jody Taulman, and Jessica Woodward.
Kathy is preceded in death by her first husband Bill Layton, and second husband Clyde “Pete” Melton, her parents Patsy Seabolt, and Jack Collard, step-father Jess Seabolt and brother Richard Collard.
Belinda and Larry - I am so sorry for the loss of your Mom and wonderful great grandmom to our wonderful grandchildren. Beautiful women - she will be dearly missed in everyone's life. May GOD be with you now in your time of sorrow and give you strength always.
