Helen Faye Stockwell James, 89, of Perry has joined her husband in Heaven. She passed peacefully at home surrounded by family on Wednesday, October 5, 2022. She was born in KS to John Earl Stockwell and Lorena May Clark Stockwell on March 21, 1933. She attended schools in Kansas where she earned her high school diploma. She married the love of her life, Denton Earl James on September 9, 1951, in Medicine Lodge, Kansas. She was a devoted U.S. Army wife, putting in 20 years right alongside her soldier. She worked as a cook at a local school, but mostly stayed home to raise her children. She enjoyed sewing, which included making clothes for her children and grandchildren. She loved animals and had a soft spot for dogs. Faye loved to fish, garden, cook, and bake. Her best times were spent with her family and she never met a stranger.
She was reunited in heaven with her parents, John and Lorena Stockwell, husband Denton James, daughter Lorena Rouse, son-in-law Stanley Bloom, as well as two well-loved dogs, “Sweetie” and “Max”.
She leaves behind her daughter Sheryl James and husband Gene of Florida, daughter Patricia Bloom-Harrell and husband Glen Dale of Canute, OK, daughter Brenda James of Perry, son-in-law Craig Rouse of Kansas, daughter Karen Gray of Perry, grandchildren: Kristopher Rouse and wife Melissa, Brandy Hise and husband Jeremy, Carlie Rouse -Brackey and husband Matthew, Meg Sandlin and husband Nate, Morgan Hearon, Trae Bright, and Chance Gray, great-grandchildren: Logan Hise, Grace Hise, Ezira Hoggatt, Remington Sandlin, Colt Sandlin, and Juleann Hearon, many nieces, nephews, and a large extended family including Lloyd Hearon and Larry Gray.
Friends are invited to stop by Brown Dugger Funeral Home of Perry on Friday (10/7) from 8-5 to pay their respects and sign her guest book. Family will be present to receive guests at an open house reception Friday night (10/7) from 5-7 pm.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 8, 2022, at the United Methodist Church of Perry beginning at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Grace Hill Cemetery of Perry. Please send mums and fall color flowers to the funeral home, as she enjoyed this time of year.
