Albert James Quick

August 8, 1943 — February 18, 2026

Albert Quick went home to be with his Lord and Savior at the age of 82 on February 18, 2026.

Albert was born August 8, 1943 to Floyd and Laura Quick. He went to Sumner School where he graduated in 1961.

Albert worked for various farmers and for Ditch Witch until he was drafted in 1968. Albert served his time in the Army in Vietnam until he was wounded in action sending him stateside to Fort Riley Kansas. Albert was a purple heart recipient.

After Albert left the army, he went to work for the United States Post Office where he retired as a postal clerk in 1998.

On October 2, 1971, Albert married the love of his life Edna Jeanne Quick. The two built a home of faith. love, and service in Sumner, Oklahoma where they raised their children. In 1983, Albert became the Pastor of the Sumner Baptist Church which was the church he was raised in. He remained the minister until December 2022.

Albert started the Sumner Rural Fire District in 1991. Albert remained a devoted member and supporter of that department.

Albert and his wife loved to travel and see the beauty God created. The two of them made it to all 50 states and a few foreign countries. They enjoyed quick road trips and long ones were even better!

Albert thrived on staying fit. After his injuries in the Army, he was told he would not be able to do physical activity but his faith helped him continue things he enjoyed. He found pleasure in assisting neighbors or anyone in need, staying active by cutting firewood, mowing lawns, running 4 miles every other day, playing softball and basketball with the Sumner kids. He enjoyed youth trips of canoing the Illinois River and taking youth to see the Great Passion Play. Not to mention, Albert threw the biggest town event for years by serving others on his birthday!

Albert enjoyed a simple life of faith, family, church, community and his country. Albert never met a stranger and would help anyone that needed it and he loved to share his Jesus with any that would listen.

Albert was preceded in death by his wife Jeanne Quick, parents Floyd and Laura Quick; siblings Robert, Dean, Kenneth, Luella, Phillip, Loren (Chub), and Gary; and a great-grandson Ledger Johnson.
