Donald Pierce

Donald E. Pierce, 80, of Billings, Oklahoma was the son of Millard and Minnie Novotny Pierce. He was born January 10, 1929 at Billings, Oklahoma and died Saturday, August 29, 2009 at his home. He was a 1947 graduate of Billings High School. Donald was active in FFA and showed shorthorn beef cattle all over the United States. He farmed with his father on the family farms until he enrolled at Oklahoma State University where he studied animal husbandry for three years. Donald served his country in the United States Air Force from 1949-51. After spending two years active duty, he served eight years in the Air Force Reserves. He played semi-pro baseball in Oklahoma and then joined the KOM pro league where he was a catcher for approximately 10 years. Donald and Emily Lou Twoguns were married on January 10, 1959. She preceded her husband in death on September 10, 1999. In 1969, Donald moved to Perry where he was the owner-operator of the Standard Oil Service Station on I-35. In 1980, he returned to the family farm near Billings and farmed until his death. Donald will be remembered as a good and loving husband and father, an avid bowler and a great provider. He will be missed by the ones left behind. He spent his final years enjoying life traveling with his family. He especially enjoyed attending motocross races and watching his grandson, Evin, race. Funeral services will begin at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 3, 2009 at the Billings Community Center, followed by a funeral feast. Sybol Day will officiate. Committal services will be at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, September 3, 2009 in the Union Cemetery at Billings. Services are under the direction of Dugger Funeral Home of Billings. Memorials may be made to the Hospice Circle of Love or the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation for emphysema research in care of Dugger Funeral Home, P.O. Box 41, Billings, Oklahoma 74630. Donald is survived by three sons, Charles Pierce, Frank Pierce and Aaron Pierce, all of Billings, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Felicia Pierce of Chandler, Oklahoma, Jessica Pierce of Garber, Oklahoma, Chasity Miner of Perry, Oklahoma, Sylas Walker of Meeker, Oklahoma and Evin Pierce of Billings, Oklahoma; seven great-grandchildren and one step-daughter, Dollee. In addition to his wife, Emily, Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Millard and Minnie Pierce, two sons, Donald E. Pierce Jr. and Kevin Pierce; and one daughter, Bee Bee Pierce.
