Dorris Irene Edwards

September 28, 1933 — November 2, 2025

Dorris Irene Edwards, a beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2025, in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Born on September 28, 1933, in Burrton, Kansas, Dorris lived a life filled with love, laughter, and a touch of vibrant joy that brightened the hearts of everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Raised in the Mennonite church, Dorris attended First Christian Church of Perry. Her faith was a guiding light throughout her life, influencing her sweet, loving, and genuine personality. With an education that included high school in Kansas, attendance at Kansas State University, and training at cosmetology school, Dorris possessed a remarkable versatility that she carried into her career as a bookkeeper in accounting office work. Yet, her true passions lay not solely in her profession, but in the embrace of nature and the warmth of family gatherings.

She met the love of her life, Donald Lee Edwards and they were joined in holy matrimony in Perry on January 7, 1956.   Dorris found happiness in the simple pleasures of life. She cultivated her vegetable and flower gardens with tender care, a pastime that drew her closer to the beauty of the outdoors. Bird watching and solving crossword puzzles also brought her immense joy, providing her with a sense of tranquility and challenge alike. However, nothing compared to the joy she felt when spending time with her children and grandchildren. Whether it was sharing stories, creating memories, or simply enjoying each other's company, Dorris cherished these moments deeply.

She is survived by her daughters, Terrie Malget of Perry, Tonda Harman of Stillwater, and Tracie Edwards of Tulsa. Dorris was the proud grandmother of Matthew Malget and his wife Alicia, Titus Harman, and great-grandmother to Rylie Malget, Baylee Malget, Maddox Harman, Ava Harman and Jeffrey LeForce. In addition to her immediate family, Dorris leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who adored her and will fondly remember her warmth and guidance.

Dorris now joins her late father, John H. Holzrichter, and mother, Sara Friesen Holzrichter, husband Donald, along with her brothers Frank, Harvey, Irl, and Elmer, and sisters Esther, Minnie, and Alvina. She also reunites with her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, creating a heavenly reunion for this beautiful soul.

As we remember Dorris Irene Edwards, let us carry forward her legacy of love, kindness, and appreciation for life's simple beauties. Her spirit will forever shine brightly in the gardens she tended and in the hearts of her family, reminding us all of the sweet, loving essence she brought to our lives.

The family will celebrate her life at a private family ceremony later this week. She will be buried at Grace Hill Cemetery of Perry next to her husband. Flowers can be sent to the funeral home or the Perry Tag Office.
