Evert Eveartt Givens, 67, of Perry, Oklahoma, was born on February 10, 1943 at Geneseo, Kansas to Therman Wesley and Irene Marie Hanson Givens. He passed away on Thursday, January 27, 2011 at his home in Perry. He attended school in Orlando and Onslow Technical Institute at Jacksonville, North Carolina. On August 21, 1960, he married Clara Keith in Stillwater, Oklahoma. They were blessed with four children from their marriage. Eveartt served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He entered the service in May of 1966. He received his basic training in San Diego, California before leaving for a one year tour of duty in Vietnam. Eveartt was stationed in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina until he was honorably discharged in 1970. While in the military, he receive the Nation Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnamese Cross of Gallentry, Navy Achievement Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Valorous Unit Award Army and Rifle Expert Badge. Once discharged from the military, he began working for Charles Machine Works until 1975. In 1975 he began his career as a contract pumper and retired in 1998. He served as president of the Perry RoundUp Club from 19751976. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign War. Eveartt loved his family very much and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed watching Perry High School wrestling matches, football and basketball games, baseball and softball games cheering on his grandchildren. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 31, 2011 at the First Baptist Church in Perry. Brother Aaron Summers will officiate. Interment will be in Grace Hill Cemetery. Services are under the direction of BrownDugger Funeral Home in Perry. The family will be receiving friends on Sunday, January 30, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at BrownDugger Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Givens Family Medical Fund or the Disabled Veterans in care of BrownDugger Funeral Home, 1010 N. 7th Street, Perry, Oklahoma 73077. Eveartt is survived by his wife, Clara Givens of the home daughters, Melissa Givens and her fianceacute, Dennis Gaddis of Perry, Oklahoma and Heather Boyd and her husband, Dusty, of Perry, Oklahoma four grandchildren, Cheyenne and KayCee Harrison, Tyler Adams and Kelsey Boyd, all of Perry three brothers, George Givens and his wife, Ann, of Perry, Oklahoma, Jimmy Givens and his wife, Rose Mary, of Coffeyville, Oklahoma, David Givens and his wife, Tesa, of Perry, Oklahoma two brothersinlaw, Herman Keith and his wife, Betty, of Enid, Oklahoma, Don Keith of Perry, Oklahoma three sisters, Peggy Crispin of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Carol Barnes and her husband, Ronald, of Red Rock, Oklahoma, Judy Winters and her husband, Verlin, of Perry, Oklahoma sisterinlaw, Lenora Phelps of Perry, Oklahoma and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Therman and Irene Givens two sons, Tracy and Troy Givens sisterinlaw, Karen Keith brothersinlaw, Clarence Phelps and Larry Crispin mother and fatherinlaw, Nan and Arnold Keith.
