Flossie Gerken

Flossie M. Gerken, 90, of Billings, Oklahoma, passed away Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at the Greenbrier Nursing Home in Enid, Oklahoma. She was born July 1, 1920, south of Billings to Riley and Bertha Pitts Rush. She attended Red Rock Valley country school and graduated from Billings High School in 1937. She attended Oklahoma A M University. On December 23, 1939, Flossie married E.C. Jack Gerken. They made their first home South of Billings by Red Rock Creek. Flossie spent her life being a devoted farmers wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking and baking many wonderful meals and treats, playing bridge, taking care of her yard and collecting antiques. She was a member of the Billings Christian Church. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 27, 2010 at the Billings Christian Church. Rev. Mike Ellington will officiate. Interment will be in Billings Union Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Dugger Funeral Home in Billings. Memorials may be made to the Billings Christian Church, Billings Union Cemetery or the charity of the donors choice in care of Dugger Funeral Home, P.O. Box 41, Billings, Oklahoma 74630. Flossie is survived by one grandson, Lee Sparks and his wife, Elizabeth, of The Colony, Texas one granddaughter, Carrie Boyer and her husband, Greg, of Billings, Oklahoma and four greatgrandchildren, Courtney Sparks and Ryan Sparks, both of The Colony, Texas and Audra Boyer and Avery Boyer, both of Billings, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack one daughter, Karen Sparks and one brother, Cecil Rush.
