Gerald LaRay Tillman aka Ray, son of Paul and Geraldine Coleman, was born on October 19, 1960, in Wichita, Kansas. Ray resided in Kansas City, Kansas. The Lord called Ray home peacefully to be with Him, February 15, 2019. Ray is preceded in death by his mother Geraldine, stepfather, Paul Coleman, who raised him, and his biological father, Arthur Tillman.

Ray graduated from South High School in 1978 and later received his Associate of Arts degree from Hutchinson Community College. Always his own man, Ray embarked on a career of entrepreneurship. A hard-working individual, Ray began his career with a business in lawn care service and progressed to owning his own trucking company, called GT Trucking. Ray's interest was always for self-development to his betterment and advancement. He received several certifications, including certification as a Kansas certified Minority Business Entrepreneur. Full of ambition and aspiration to reach his full potential, Ray was a real estate investor and professional day trader. He enjoyed reading and learning, which accredited him a plethora of knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Most importantly, Ray accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior. The love of his life was God, and he was fervent in the Lord! A kindhearted and spiritual soul, who would give the clothes off his back, Ray read his bible daily; was a cheerful giver; loved to share the gospel with anyone who would listen; and was the epitome of a humble and faithful man, who always wanted to do God's will. His smile could light up any room. He enjoyed watching sports, basketball, football, and baseball.

Well done, good and faithful servant! Ray leaves to cherish his memories, two sisters, Verna Neal, of Houston, Texas and Tonya Emsweller (Dwayne) of Valrico, Florida; his aunt, Frances Hoy of Wichita, Kansas; nieces, Taylor Smith (Clarence) of Houston, Texas, and Maya Emsweller of Valrico, Fl; nephew, Dwayne Emsweller, Jr. of Valrico, Fl; great-nieces, Ashlynn and Aaliyah Neal of Houston, TX, and a host of many relatives and friends.

7 "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day-and not only to me but also to all who have longed for his appearing." 2 Timothy 4:7-8

The family of Gerald LaRay Tillman gratefully acknowledges all who have shown acts of kindness during this difficult time. We would like to extend a special thanks to the Hoy family, Luther Wilson, Mount Olive A.M.E church family, and Deena Biffle from the Brown-Dugger Funeral home who has given tremendous assistance and support to our family.
