James Longan

JD Longan longtime Sumner resident passed away Friday, September 9, 2016 at his home. He was 83 years of age. JD was born on July 11, 1933 to Virgil V. and Dorthy E. Young Longan in Coyle, OK.

Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, September 15, 2016 in the Sumner Baptist Church with Pastor Albert Quick officiating. Interment will be 3 p.m. Thursday, September 15, 2016 in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Coyle, OK. Arrangements are under the care of Brown- Duggar Funeral Home of Perry, OK.

JD grew up in the Coyle area and he served a tour of Duty with the U.S. Army. He met the love of his life Loretta J. Scott and they were married on June 23, 1952 in Sumner, OK and they made their home in Sumner, OK. JD was very active in Sumner and he helped establish the Sumner Volunteer Fire Department which he was involved with for numerous years, he also worked in the oilfield all his life as a Drilling Supervisor with some locations in Libya, Venezuela and other fields overseas. JD enjoyed fishing, picking pecans and working his pecan grove. He was a member of the Sumner Baptist Church and he enjoyed spending time with all his grandchildren and Great grandchildren.

Survivors include: wife; Lorretta of the Home; 2 sons; Scott Longan and wife Jane of Tulsa, OK John Scott Logan and wife Shantile of Yukon, OK; 1 daughter; Paula Gottschalk and husband Doug of Perry, OK; 2 sisters; Kathryn Bostian of Lake Texoma, OK Carolyn Sullins of Perkins, OK 12 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

JD was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter; Ginger Lynn Longan, 1 sister; Evelyn Crenshaw, 1 brother; Don Longan.
