Joe L. Perks, 80, of Rockwall, TX, passed away on June 10, 2023, two months from his eighty-first birthday. Born in Bay City, TX, to Charles and Mary (Lafferty) Perks. After graduating from Rankin High School he began his career working as a draftsman CorningWare in Muskogee, OK.

He first married Mary Ann Gryder. Together they had a son and daughter, Robert and Rashana. He later married Jean Binkley who had three daughters from a previous marriage, Aleta, Sonya and Tria. Joe and Jean spent their time enjoying each other’s company, visiting their friends and traveling. Today, Joe is survived by Jean, his two children, one grandchild, three stepchildren, four step-grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

After completing a vocational program, he accepted a position with Spectronics Honeywell in Richardson, TX. He wore many hats during his career there that began with drafting and ultimately lead to international sales which enabled him to travel the world and make many lifelong friends. He always enjoyed his work, the fun it produced, and the memorable stories that have been retold many times over the years. He enjoyed scuba diving, camping, sailing, traveling, meeting new people, and cooking for friends and family.

His greatest passion was supported by his faith, family, and friends. After being initiated into the Masonic Order in 1965, Joe spent his life in the service of others. His 58-year-long membership included Offices held at every available level in several Lodges in Texas and Oklahoma. He was dedicated to education, building relationships, mentoring, and supporting developing Lodges and a party always followed wherever he went.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM, Friday, June 16, 2023, at First United Methodist Church, Allen, TX. A viewing will be available prior to the start of the service. Memorial donations may be made to First United Methodist Church, Allen. A graveside service will be held at Garber Cemetery at 3:00 PM, Saturday, June 17, 2023, in Garber, OK.
