John Green

April 9, 1933 — July 26, 2015

Johnnie Allen Green Sr. joined his Lord and Savior, July26, 2015 at the age of 82. He was born to Mervin and Nettie (Lebow) Green, April 9, 1933 in Orlando, OK. Services will be held Friday, July 31, 1:00 at the Orlando Christian Church with pastors Gilbert Forrest and Bill Park officiating. Burial will be at Morris Height Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday and Thursday from 8am to 8pm with the family greeting friends and family from 6pm to 8pm on Thursday.

On January 19, 1952, he and Betty Jo Cook were married and started a whirlwind of travel and working numerous jobs. Gas station attendant till it was harvest time, cutting wheat and sleeping under the stars, construction on highways, railroads and even oilfield till he was called to serve his country in the Army in 1953. After basic training in California he was sent to Germany. He returned from service in 1955 and went to work for Dresser Atlas moving to Ponca City. Returning to Perry he delivered bread for Meads Bread Company. In 1969 they moved back to Orlando working as an assembler at Ditch Witch, oilfield pumper, and retired from time clock punching at Tabers fabrication in 1995.

Retirement kept him busy. A hardworking, honest man John never lacked for something to do. Mowing season was his favorite time of year especially in the wet years. John loved to hunt, fish, garden and just go.

John served his Lord and Savior faithfully. He attended the Orlando Christian Church serving as a deacon and later as an elder, song leader, and board chairman. It is the behind the scene things he did that will be sorely missed. Making sure the lights are on, AC was running, communion filled or fixing whatever needed fixed, he even helped clean the flower beds.

John never met a stranger and loved to tell stories.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 63 years of the home. In addition to his wife John is survived by his two sons Johnnie Jr and wife JoVona of Mulhall, OK, Jeff and wife Pam of Canadian TX and one daughter Kathy Golay and husband John of Orlando, OK. He is also survived by six grandchildren Dani Watson and husband Kenton of Guthrie, OK, Kayla Stewart of husband Joey of Stillwater, OK, Sarah Senter of Clyde NC, Sami Davis and husband Greg of Broken Arrow, OK, Justie Golay and wife Tiffany of Yukon, OK, Laurie Green of Waynesville, NC and three step grandchildren Jeff Oldenburg and wife Dusty of Mulhall, OK, Joline Oldenburg of Mulhall, OK, Jason Oldenburg and wife Stacy of Maud, OK. He is also survived by his brother Teddy Green of Perry, OK.

John loved his children and grandchildren. He supported them all in prayers, emotional support, attending ball games and many other school functions. He made sure they knew the value of hard work and being on time. His saying was "if I'm going to be late, I might as well not go".

Family meant everything to John but the great grandchildren Chelsey, Josie and Reid Watson, Will and Hudson Stewart, Jameson Senter, Kate Davis and Ben Golay truly stole his heart.

John was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Jack, Bill and Jerry.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Orlando Christian Church.
