Joy McGehee, 82, of Garber, Oklahoma, was the daughter of Alfred Wesley and Patsy Elaine Cook Burt. She was born on June 26, 1929 in rural Seminole County, Oklahoma and died Saturday, November 5, 2011 at St. Marys Medical Center, Enid, Oklahoma. She was a graduate of Prairie Valley High School. Joy married her best friend and husband, Joseph Grant McGehee on December 24, 1955 in Fort Worth, Texas. They moved to Garber in 1968 from Liberal, Kansas and together owned a Champlin Service Station in Garber before closing in 1980. After that Joy worked for the Garber Free Press. Joy enjoyed playing bridge, reading and working crossword puzzles but most of all she loved spending time with her family. Joy was a member of the Garber United Methodist Church and the Methodist Women. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Joy was loved by the Garber community and will be deeply missed. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at the Garber United Methodist Church in Garber, Oklahoma. Rev. Linda Pope will officiate. Interment will follow in the Garber Cemetery, Garber, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Dugger Funeral Home of Garber, Oklahoma. Memorials may be made to the Garber United Methodist Church and the Oklahoma Lions Boys Ranch in care of Dugger Funeral Home, P.O Box 66, Garber, Oklahoma 73738. Joy is survived by her husband Joe McGehee of the home two sons, Jeff McGehee and his wife, Rouchelle of Enid, Oklahoma, Layne McGehee and his wife, Kristy of Garber, Oklahoma one daughter, Claire Buzzard of Enid, Oklahoma, five grandchildren, Anna McGehee and Hope McGehee of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Taylor McGehee of Garber, Oklahoma, Molly Buzzard and Ridge Buzzard of Enid, Oklahoma one sister, Kathy Barham of Weatherford, Texas. She was preceded in death by both of her parents one sister, Ruth Crawford and one brother, John Burt.
