Joye Powell

May 6, 1935 — January 24, 2018

Joye Louise Powell, 82, of Edmond, Oklahoma passed from this earth to meet her heavenly Father on the evening of January 24, 2018 in a hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was born in Sioux Falls, Iowa on May 6, 1935. Joye was raised by Oscar and Louise Rosenberry. She attended Lone Grove High School in Oklahoma. Her parents raised her in the rodeo world and that was where Joye's fascination for horses came about. Joye and Hawk, her horse growing up, would compete in barrel racing competitions as much as they could.
After graduating Joye set out to fill many positions. She was a single working mother and grandmother. She ran a Clinic in Watonga for an extensive time and worked as the Administrative Secretary for Dean McGee for about 7 or 8 years. She was blessed with one child, Tracy, and rasied her in Ardmore, Oklahoma. She worked her entire life while still managing to raise and make time for her. She was an independent woman who didn't have to rely on anyone.
Once she retired she would garden occasionally. Joye loved to spend time with her family. They were all very close as they were neighbors for the last part of her life.

Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 3, 2018 at the Brown-Dugger Funeral Home Chapel in Perry, Oklahoma. Interment will follow at Lawnview Cemetery in Perry, OK. Services have been entrusted to the care of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home in Perry, Oklahoma.
