Leland D. Bud Franklin was born on July 24, 1926 in Sparks, Oklahoma to Gerald and Goldie Franklin. He passed away on July 2, 2014 at the age of 87 years.
Bud served in the United States Navy from 1944 to 1946. He then moved to California and worked for Pacific Telephone after his retirement he then went to work as county commissioner in Kelseyville, California. Bud was a past member of the Elks Lodge, the masons and the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Janice of Perry two sons, James Franklin of Willits, California and L.D. Franklin Jr. and his wife, Linda of Clearlake, California three step children, Gregg Payne and his wife, Kathy of Stillwater, Mark Payne and his wife, Kim of Perry and Shelly Briegge and her husband, Dennis of Perry three brothers, Kerman Franklin and his wife, Virginia of Edmond, John Franklin and his wife, Carol of Perry, and Clifton Franklin of Woodland, California three sisters, Jo Ann of Oklahoma City, Rose Silva of Oklahoma City, and Pauline Jackson of Hiawatha, Kansas numerous grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, and greatgreat grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents three brothers, Junior, Fayne, and Rod Franklin two sisters, Wanda and Kathryn and one stepson, Bruce Payne.
Funeral services will be 2pm, Monday, July 7, 2014 at BrownDugger Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplin Gene Owen officiating. Interment will follow in Grace Hill Cemetery in Perry. Visitation will be Saturday 8am to 8pm and Sunday 1pm to 8pm. Memorial may be made to the Alzheimers Association or Companion Hospice in care of BrownDugger Funeral Home, 1010 N. 7th, Perry, OK 73077.
