Leon Dominic Hoffman, age 87, of Carrollton and Plano, Texas passed away on October 17, 2024. After a brief illness, he passed away quietly with family at his side.
Leon was born outside Perry, OK on March 17, 1937, where he grew up with his sisters and brothers on the family farm. When they left the farm, the family moved to Guthrie, OK and then Ponca City, OK where he graduated from St Mary’s Catholic High School. Leon joined the Air Force in 1956 and served as a weather observer in Japan, South Korea along the DMZ, then Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha, NE. He returned to Oklahoma after his service where he met Linda O’Grady of Billings, OK and they got married in 1961. Shortly after that, Leon accepted a job with Recordak Corp., a division of Eastman Kodak Co., in Oklahoma City. Leon worked for Kodak in OKC, Dallas, Detroit, Houston, Austin, and Irving, TX. After 35 years, he retired in 1997 then spent much of his post-Kodak life spending time with his family and grand kids, golfing with friends, boating, working with the Kodak Retiree Organization where he was president for 15 years, and helping Linda and the Carrolton Women’s Club.
Leon is survived by his loving family, son Gary and Callie (Schaper) Hoffman, and daughter Sheri and Chris Korte. Along with grandchildren, Ryan and Katie (Vetter) Hoffman, Alyssa Hoffman, Jacob Korte, and Maggie (Korte) and Austin Brown. And two great-grandchildren, Hazel and Jackson Hoffman. He is also survived by one brother and his wife, Pat and Becky Hoffman, sister in-law Judy Hoffman, and Linda’s sister Pat Webb. Along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Linda Anne (O’Grady) Hoffman. And his parents, Cecil and Hilda (Wagner) Hoffman, his sister Martha and Bob Cowden, sister Delores, brother Dennis, and nephew Tom Cowden.
Services will be held in Texas and Oklahoma. The viewing and funeral mass will be held at Mary Immaculate Catholic Church in Farmers Branch, TX on Wednesday, Oct 30th with the viewing starting at 10:30 with the mass at 11:00. On Thursday, Oct 31st at 10:00 will be a viewing at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Perry, OK, followed by a prayer service and rosary starting approximately 10:15. A procession to the cemetery will follow the service.
