Leona Anna Musick Rice, 89, of Perry, Oklahoma was the daughter of Emil and Alvina Karcher Beier. She was born April 3, 1920 in Noble County, near Perry, Oklahoma and died Monday, September 14, 2009 at her home. Leona and Arlie A. Musick were married on January 28, 1938 in Perry, Oklahoma and to this union eight children were born. Arlie preceded his wife in death on June 18, 1979. She worked on the family farm with her husband Arlie until 1976 when they moved to town. She went to work for TG Y in 1976 as the clothing department manager retiring in 1985. Leona was an avid gardener who enjoyed sharing the fruits of her labor with her family and friends. She also enjoyed attending community dances which is where she met her second husband. On September 7, 1990, she and Charles R. Rice were married at Perry, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on March 1, 2008. Leona was a life-long member of the Zion Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday school, enjoyed singing in the choir and was active in the Lutheran women's group. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 21, 2009 at the Zion Lutheran Church. Rev. Craig Groseclose will officiate. Interment will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday, September 20, 2009 at Brown-Dugger Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church in care of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home, 1010 N. 7th Street, Perry, Oklahoma 73077. Leona was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family. She is survived by three sons, Jerry Musick of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Roger Musick and his wife, Deborah, of Yukon, Oklahoma, and Craig Musick and his wife, Susan, of Scottsdale, Arizona; three daughters, Joan Curtis of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Sandy Little and her husband, Jim, of Ankeny, Iowa, and Kim Hefley and her husband, Dan, of Wellington, Kansas; 19 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, one brother, Arnold Beier and his wife, Eunice, of Clifton, Kansas; three sisters, Lorene Loveless of Perry, Oklahoma, Marlene Oltmanns and her husband, Karl, of Stillwater, Oklahoma and Carol Fuxa and her husband, John, of Weatherford, Texas. In addition to her first husband, Arlie A. Musick, and her second husband, C. R. Rice; Leona was preceded in death by two sons, Daniel L. Musick and Elmo Arlie Musick; her parents, Emil Beier Sr. and Alvina Beier; three brothers, Emil Beier Jr., Rudolph Beier and Edward Beier; and two sisters, Lillian Jones and Margie Beier.
