Maxine Urban

November 5, 1918 — January 18, 2011

Maxine M. Urban, 92, was the daughter of M.C. Dock and Mable Gladys Johnston Dickson. She was born on November 5, 1918 on the Pettit farm just west of the home place at Red Rock, Oklahoma and died Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at Perry Memorial Hospital. She started to school at Marland in 1925, moved back to Red Rock in 1931 and graduated from high school at Red Rock in 1937. Maxine was a 1939 graduate from Northern Oklahoma Junior College in Tonkawa. Maxine was assistant Post Master at Red Rock during the day and worked at the telephone office at night. She also worked at the telephone office in Ponca City, Oklahoma before she accepted a position at the Exchange Bank and Trust Company in Perry on September 1, 1943 where she worked for over 41 years until she retired in 1984. On December 24, 1945, Maxine married William H. Bill Urban in Perry, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on June 3, 1997. Maxine and Bill lived in Perry all their married life with the exception of six months when they lived in California. At that time they took a leave of absence from their jobs, went on an extended vacation to California and had the time of their lives. She was very talented. After working full time at the bank, she and a friend were in the floral business. Maxine and Bill loved to travel. They vacationed every year to various parts of the United States. After their retirement they continued traveling until Bills death. Maxine was a great inspiration to her family. She and Bill never had children of their own but Maxine loved and spoiled her three younger siblings, all of her nieces and nephews and anyone else she could. She has always lived by the upbringing that she received from her parents There is no gray area . . . it is either right or it is wrong. She has always worked very hard in the First Christian Church. Funeral services will be10:00 a.m. Friday, January 21, 2011 at the First Christian Church. Rev. Martin Foster will officiate. There will be a private family interment. Services are under the direction of BrownDugger Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church in care of BrownDugger Funeral Home, 1010 N. 7th Street, Perry, Oklahoma 73077. Maxine is survived by two brothers, Van W. Dickson and his wife, Kitty, of Corpus Christi, Texas and Duane W. Babe Dickson of Perry, Oklahoma one sister, Betty L. Habben and her husband, Joe, of Perry, Oklahoma nine nieces and nephews sixteen great nieces and nephews and thirteen greatgreat nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Urban her parents, Dock and Gladys Dickson brother, Maxwell M. Dickson a baby sister and a baby brother and one sisterinlaw, Margaret Dickson.
