Richard Rupp

Richard O. Rupp, 83, of Perry, Oklahoma, was the son of Martin and Margaret Lovekamp Rupp. He was born on May 17, 1926 in Perry, Oklahoma on the family farm and died Monday, November 30, 2009 at the Perry Memorial Hospital. Richard served his country as a member of the United States Army during World War II. He served in the 70th Division, 274 Infantry, II Battalion E Company. Richard received the EAME Theater Campaign Ribbon with two Bronze Stars, the Good Conduct Medal, the Army of Occupation Ribbon Germany, the Victory Ribbon and two Overseas Service Bars. On May 25, 1951, Richard married Zelma F. Melton in the Zion Lutheran Church in Perry. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 3, 2009 at the Zion Lutheran Church. Pastor Dan Thimell will officiate. Interment will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at Brown-Dugger Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church in care of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home, 1010 N. 7th Street, Perry, Oklahoma 73077. Richard is survived by his wife, Zelma Rupp; one daughter, Mary Weinkauf and her husband, Robert, of Perry, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Bobi Nelson and her husband, Duane, and Beki Gibson and her husband, Shaun, all of Perry, Oklahoma and Matt Weinkauf of Orlando, Oklahoma; two great grandchildren, Renzi Nelson and Teague Nelson, both of Perry, Oklahoma; one brother, Leonard Rupp of Perry, Oklahoma; two sister-in-laws and their husbands, Shirley Webb and her husband, Allen and Doreen Snider and her husband, Tom, all of Perry, Oklahoma; one brother-in-law, Tony Melton and his wife, Janice, of Waynoka, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
