Roberta Ann Bert Hicks, 73, of Perry, Oklahoma the first of nine daughters born to Clarence and Lois Wallingford Myers. Bert was born April 22, 1939 in Terlton, Oklahoma and died February 25, 2013 at Green Valley Nursing Home in Perry, Oklahoma. At age two the family moved to Sumner, Oklahoma which became the longtime home. Roberta graduated as the 1957 Class President of Sumner High School. On July 19, 1957 she married Earl Dean Hicks in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. They resided in Tulsa until moving back to Perry in June 1962. Bert served as the secretary and Court Reporter for Judge Robert McCubbins until 1969. She was then employed by the Charles Machine Works until 1993. She retired from Ditch Witch having seniority on all other female employees at the time of her retirement. In addition to her work career, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. As such, she provided a warm loving home for the family. Her hobbies included displaying family pictures, cooking, baking, home gardening, canning, pecan processing, and home decorating and at one time she was a master of Canasta. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 1, 2013 at the BrownDugger Funeral Home Chapel in Perry, Oklahoma. Albert Quick Minister of Sumner Baptist Church and a cousin of Robertas will officiate. Private family interment will be held. Services are under direction of BrownDugger Funeral Home in Perry, Oklahoma. Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, February 28, 2013 at BrownDugger Funeral Home in Perry, Oklahoma. Memorials may be made to the Sumner Baptist Church or the charity of contributors choice in care of BrownDugger Funeral Home, 1010 N 7th, Perry, Oklahoma 73077. Bert is survived by husband, Earl Dean Hicks of the home son, Tracy Lee Hicks of Perry, Oklahoma granddaughter, Jessica and husband Scott Malan greatgranddaughter Addison Hicks of Tulsa, Oklahoma son, Rodney Wayne Hicks of Rancho Cucamonga, California daughter, Lisa Ann Hicks Berger of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and granddaughter Lindsey Berger of Stillwater, Oklahoma. In addition, she is survived by seven sisters and the families of her eight sisters. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Barbara Jean.
