Ruth Walker

Ruth Lorene Walker was born February 4, 1915 in Washunga, Oklahoma to John William and Sarah Christina Wiechmann Acker. She passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at Green Valley Nursing Home in Perry, Oklahoma. On January 2, 1932, Ruth married Darell Dick James Selby in Kaw City, Oklahoma and to this union two daughters were born Darlene and Gaynell. After the passing of Darell in 1956, Ruth married Frank Walker in 1959 he also precedes her in death, passing away in 1984. Ruth attended nursing school at Blackwell Hospital, where she received her LPN license in 1958. She went on to work at the Fairchild Center in Billings, Oklahoma for 28 years. Ruth was a member of the First Christian Church in Red Rock, Oklahoma, where she played the piano for the church, taught Sunday school, and was superintendent of Sunday school for several years. After her retirement, Ruth moved to Perry and attended First Christian Church, where she participated in the Hope Circle. Ruth loved to travel, especially to California, Oregon and Canada with her sisters. She also enjoyed working outside in her yard. Ruth is survived by two daughters, Darlene McClure and her husband, Robert, of Morrison, Oklahoma, and Gaynell Fairless and her husband, Tom of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma three sisters, Marjorie Rees of Bonners Ferry, Idaho, Marcella Wyatt of Grover Beach, California, and Geraldyne Hood and her husband, John of Pine Mountain, California eleven grandchildren and numerous greatgrandchildren and greatgreat ndashgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents her first husband, Darell Selby her second husband, Frank Walker one sister, Frances Dorothy Acker and one greatgrandson, Jordan Jarrell. At Ruths request, there will be a graveside service at 2:00pm, Friday, January 3, 2014 in Grandview Cemetery in Kaw City, with Reverend Martin Foster officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Saint Jude Childrens Research Hospital in care of BrownDugger Funeral Home, 1010 N. 7th Street, Perry, Oklahoma 73077.
