Shirley Ann Hodge has gone to be with the Lord Almighty on Sunday, April 18th. She was the daughter of John and Minnie Curran, born in Oklahoma City on December 22, 1935. She married William Edward (Bill) Hodge Jr. on June 28th, 1953 in Perry. Bill was a fireman and chief. She was a great homemaker, cook, gardener, camper and competitive game player. She worked at StClair’s plumbing until Bill retired as the fire chief and they purchased the Western Auto store. After retirement, she focused more on her flowers and garden, camping, spending time at the lake, and loved to spend time with her kids and grandkids.
She was preceded in death by both of her parents, her husband, one brother John Curran, one sister Helen Johnson and one infant daughter Charlotte. She is survived by her son Douglas (Doug) Hodge of Mequon, WI, daughters Cindy and husband Drew Norlin of Norman, Denise Hodge of Bethany, Joan and husband Terry Bolay of Perry, and Becky Hodge of OKC. She also has 17 grandkids, 24 great grandkids, and 1 great great grandkid. Also survived by 2 sisters, Rosie Hamblin of Durant and Janice Emmons of Perry, sister in law Louise Lovekamp of OKC, sister in law Deloris Hodge of Perry, sister in law Deloris Curran of OKC and sister in law Ladonna Hodge of OKC.
Funeral services to honor Shirley's life will be held on Friday (4/23) at the chapel at Brown-Dugger Funeral Home with Celebrant Larry Berger officiating. Interment will follow in Grace Hill Cemetery in Perry. Serving as pall bearers will be Mikel Hayes, Jerrod Hayes, Caleb Hayes, Corey Norlin, Billy Norlin and Joshua Hodge. Serving as Honorary pallbearers are Kyle Norlin, Alex Egner, Kurttis Mark, Dylon Hayes, Lane Hayes, Wyatt Wolff, Drew Norlin and Terry Bolay. A recitation of the rosary will be held on Wednesday evening at 6pm at Brown-Dugger Funeral Home. A time of visitation will be held on Wednesday & Thursday from 8am-5pm. The family will greet friends on Thursday from 5pm-7pm at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to the American Cancer Society and/or Cure Alzheimer’s Fund.
