Thomas Tom Monroe Norman, 78, of Red Rock, Oklahoma, was the son of Guy and Charity Garrison Norman. He was born on June 14, 1933 in Douglas, Oklahoma and died Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at Cimarron Point Care Center in Mannford, Oklahoma. Tom married LaWanda Anne Zavodny on December 17, 1955 in Marland, Oklahoma and to this union three children were born. LaWanda preceded Tom in death on January 5, 1986. After the death of his first wife Tom married Bonnie Lee Weddle on November 18, 1988 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Bonnie preceded him in death on June 5, 2004. He was a career military person who served as a flight engineer honorably for 22 years before retiring from the United States Navy in 1973. After retirement he returned home to begin farming and was a member of the Oklahoma Fruit Growers Association. Tom also enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandchildren when not working on the farm. Tom will always be remembered for being a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. Graveside services will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday, September 17, 2011 at the Bohemian Cemetery north of Perry, Oklahoma. Gerald Stewart will officiate. Services are under the direction of BrownDugger Funeral Home. Family will received friends Friday, September 16, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at BrownDugger Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation in care of BrownDugger Funeral Home, 1010 N. 7th Street, Perry, Oklahoma 73077. Tom is survived by his two sons, Gregory Alan Norman and his wife, Mary of Cleveland, Oklahoma and Joel Matthew Norman and his wife, Nancy of Luther, Oklahoma one daughter, Laurie Anne Gilbert and her husband, Danny of Allen, Texas three sisters, Dorothy Mogabgab of Thibodaux, Louisiana, Betty Helberg of Enid, Oklahoma and Norma Bengston of Colorado Springs, Colorado eleven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife LaWanda Norman and his second wife Bonnie Norman, his parents, four brothers and two sisters.
