Vance Shiever

Vance Lee Shiever, 59, of Morrison, Oklahoma who was a fighter, lost his battle with pancreatic cancer on Monday, November 3, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born November 6, 1954 in Pawnee, Oklahoma to Steve and Ethel Cowell Shiever. Vance was the youngest of three sons.

He was baptized on December 5, 1954 at Christ Lutheran Church in Perry, Oklahoma. Vance was an active member of the Christ Lutheran Church.

Vance graduated from Morrison High School in 1973. He excelled at basketball, going on to play at OSU where he obtained a Bachelors of Science degree in Agronomy. After graduation, he continued farming and ranching throughout his entire life.

On May, 20, 1978, Vance married Linda Carey in Guthrie, Oklahoma. To this union they had two children, Lindsey the first girl in the Shiever family in 30 years and Beau.

Vance raised registered Hampshire hogs and was very successful in breeding and selling winners. He loved spending time with his children, helping them raise and show their animals at the many livestock and jackpot shows they attended. Vance managed Morrison Feed and Seed Mill before becoming the Morrison Rural Mail Carrier where he retired after 30 years. He was very dedicated and always went the extra mile for his patrons.

His hobbies were working, sports, hunting and fishing. Vances joy was watching his childrens many sporting events through their high school and college years, and spending time with his family and friends. He loved spending time with his four granddaughters and will sorely miss getting to watch them grow up. Vance had an infectious laugh that will be missed by all who knew him.

Services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, November 7, 2014 at the Christ Lutheran Church in Perry, Oklahoma with Rev. William Metz officiating. Interment will follow in Morrison Cemetery in Morrison, Oklahoma. The family will greet friends at BrownDugger Funeral Home on Thursday, November 6, 2014 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The family has expressed a special invitation to family and friends to attend a dinner and slide show held at the Red Building in Morrison, Oklahoma immediately following the burial.

Vance is survived by his wife, Linda of the home one daughter, Lindsey Buckminster and her husband, Seth of Red Rock, Oklahoma one son Beau Shiever and his wife, Alicia of Edmond, Oklahoma four granddaughters, Madison and Ivy Buckminster both of Red Rock, Ella and Marni Shiever both of Edmond, Oklahoma two brothers, Steve Shiever and his wife, Cindy of Crescent, Oklahoma, and Randy Shiever and his wife, Lonna of Morrison, Oklahoma. He was uncle UV to five nephews, Steve Shiever and his wife, Tracy and their daughters, Morgan and Jordan Shiever of Alva, Oklahoma, Matt Shiever and his wife, Trish and their sons, Nicholas and Kyle Shiever of Olathe, Kansas, Mitch Shiever and his wife, Jan and their son, Trevor and daughter, Elin of Edmond, Oklahoma, Jason Shiever and his wife, Kia of Luther, Oklahoma, Justin Shiever and his wife, Lane and their son, Spencer of Sulphur Springs, Texas.

Vance was preceded in death by his parents, Steve and Ethel Shiever.

Memorials may be sent in Vances name to the Christ Lutheran Church, Perry, Oklahoma or Judith Karman Hospice, Stillwater, Oklahoma in care of BrownDugger Funeral Home, 1010 N. 7th, Perry, Oklahoma 73077.
