Venice Rhoades

Venice Patton Rhoades, 87, of Perry, Oklahoma, formerly of Katy, Texas was the daughter of Harvey Herd and Alice Percey Buckner Patton. She was born June 20, 1925 in Newellton, Louisiana and died Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at Perry Memorial Hospital in Perry, Oklahoma. She was a graduate of Louisiana Tech University with a degree in Education. Venice married Frank Leslie Rhoades Jr. on June 24, 1946 in Newellton, Louisiana he preceded her in death on February 18, 2009. She enjoyed cooking, sewing clothes and gardening. Venice was a member of the Pine Presbyterian Church in Houston, Texas. Graveside Services will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 22, 2012 at Memorial Oaks Cemetery in Houston, Texas. Rev. Wayne Eberly will officiate. Services are under the direction of BrownDugger Funeral Home in Perry, Oklahoma. Memorials may be made to the Pines Presbyterian Church in care of BrownDugger Funeral Home, 1010 N. 7th Perry, Oklahoma 73077. Venice is survived by one son, Frank Leslie Rhoades III of Katy, Texas one daughter, Sherill Rhoades Carothers of Perry, Oklahoma one grandchild, Matthew Edwin Carothers of Atlanta, Georgia two sisters, Alice Bell of Monroe, Louisiana and Kathryn Keith of Birmingham, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Rhoades Jr. her parents, Harvey and Alice Patton one brother, Harvey H. Patton Jr. one sister, Jeanne P. Reeves.
