Venita Hodge

May 11, 1919 — February 21, 2017

Venita Hodge was born in Cedar County, Missouri, May 11, 1919 passing from this life February 21st at home with family. Mrs. Hodge joins her husband of 75 years, Harold E. Hodge on the path of eternity.

A resident of Noble County for over 80 years Venita enjoyed the life of wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend. A professional woman by trade, Mrs. Hodge operated "Fashions by Venita" for over 40 years in downtown Perry, retiring at age 91.
Harold Edward Hodge and Venita Velma Yockey were married August 28, 1936, sharing a wonderful marriage side by side for over 75 years.

To this union were born Eddie Dalton, Donna Jean, Theda Rae, Shirley Ann and Harold Oliver. Family was her greatest love.

Mrs. Hodge was a life- long supporter of 4-H and FFA youth programs, helping each of her children with their projects. Mrs. Hodge assumed adult leadership roles in both 4-H and FFA programs and for many years with the ladies of 76 Home Demonstration Club. As an exhibitor her entries of sewing, canning, and baking were most always winners. Custom made clothing was her art. For many years the Perry Study Club fashion show was an avenue to display her talents and love for fashion and design. Her customers always became friends giving greater meaning to each life.

Mrs. Hodge is survived by son and daughter in law, Eddie and Judy Hodge, daughter Donna Jean Hodge, daughter and son in law Shirley Ann and Richard Dunham, son and daughter in law Harold O. and Mildred Hodge. Grandchildren: Leanna and Stephen Meliotes, Brett and Lisa Hodge, Deirdre Hodge, Dawn Rae and Bill Ware, Holly and Jeff Dyess, Justin Hodge. Nieces: Pat Studebaker- Gray, Loretta Walker- Johnston. Nephews: Clem Yockey, Owen Lee Walker, Jimmy Dean Walker, Don Studebaker. 15 Great Grandchildren and 11 Great Great Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by husband Harold Hodge, daughter Theda Rae Hodge- Brown, sister and brother in law Juanita and L.V. Walker, Brother Clem Yockey. Parents G.D. and Ida Yockey, In- Laws Ed and Ollie Hodge, sister in law Goldie Studebaker and grandson Randy Hodge.

Services for Ms. Hodge will be on Monday, February 27, 2017 at 10:00 am in the chapel of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home of Perry. Family will receive friends on Sunday, February 26, 2017 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
