It is with great sadness that we announce the loss of Byron Alonzo Phipps.  He was a humble farmer, so he chose to have a simple funeral.   A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
He was born on May 4, 1932 in Red Rock, Oklahoma to Curtis Alonzo Phipps and Florence Eileen Housh Phipps.  He met his soul mate, the love of his life, Ms. Ruth Katherine Buntt and after five years of dating he asked her to be his wife.  The couple were married in Ponca City on June 27, 1959.  They enjoyed almost 60 years of wedded bliss.  After high school, he joined the United States Army where he bravely served his country.  He received a formal education earning his bachelor’s degree from Oklahoma State University in Agricultural economics. Byron was a farmer and rancher.  He raised wheat and Black Angus cattle.  Being raised on a farm, he enjoyed cutting his own wheat when he was a younger man.  You could often find him at the CO-OP or The Rock visiting with his neighbors over a few cups of coffee. Byron was very attached to his grand kids and great grandkids.  They knew he would always be seen in the stands at their sporting events. He also enjoyed taking his family to the lake in his free time.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Byron leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Katie of the home, Son Byron DeWayne Phipps of Ponca City, daughter Deborah Jean Petty and her husband Tommy of Red Rock, grandson Justin Curtis Petty and his wife Sarah of Tuttle, grandson Jeremy Michael Petty and his fiancée Hailey Carroll of Perry, granddaughter Alicia Nicole Ingmire and her husband Tim of Marland, great grandchildren Daylen, Kolton, Connor, Elijah, Paris, Brayden, and Beau,  one sister Lois Williams and her husband Larry of Enid, numerous nieces and nephews.
