Ernest Gorath

September 10, 1942 — June 19, 2021

Perry, OK

Ernest Friedrich Gorath has entered the kingdom of heaven. He was 78 years of age. He was born on September 10, 1942 on the family farm in Perry, the son of Fred Edward Gorath and his wife Junie U. Anderson Gorath. He attended Christ Lutheran and Perry Public schools, graduating in 1960. He proudly served his term in the Army National Guard after high school. A true farm kid, he worked on a wheat harvester crew before trying his hand in the oilfield. He later went on to work in the shear and punch department, Subsite, maintenance, and product development at Ditch Witch until he retired.

He met and married the love of his life, Carolyn Tiemann. They were married on September 8, 1967 at the Trinity Lutheran Church of Blackwell. They made their home in Perry. After Carolyn's death, Ernest was married to Faye Richardson on November 2012 until her death in February 2017. Ernest enjoyed farming, ranching, playing cards and singing. He collected tractors, cattle, and grandkids. They were the light of his life. He raised cattle, deer, elk, ostriches, emu, and rheas on the farm. A gifted vocalist, Ernest could be seen at the nursing home and at many church sing-a-longs. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, where he was an elder and an officer. He was an officer of the Noble County Fair board for several years, he worked closely with local fire departments, and he always enjoyed helping local youth with their 4-H and FFA projects. Overalls and a ball cap, the uniform of a true farmer; that was Ernest.

He was a good dad, great papa, and a true friend. He leaves behind to mourn his loss his son John Gorath and his wife Staci of Perry, daughter Cathy Hayes and her husband Kirby of Perry, special daughter Lisa Zacharias and her husband Kyle of Ohio - grandchildren Ashley Holt and her husband Chris, Christina Butler and her husband Zach, Jacob Anderson and his wife Amanda, Jordan Gorath, Justine Gum and her husband Donald, Samantha Danielson, William Anderson and his wife Tessa and Liam Zacharias -
great grandkids Falynn, Conor, Blair, Jalen, Clarke and a new baby on the way. Also survived by sister Esther Arnold, many nieces, nephews, as well as many friends.
He was reunited in heaven with his parents Fred and Junie Gorath, wife Carolyn, wife Faye, and sister Laura Bourlon and her husband Billy.
