Gerald Allen Payne was born to Floyd Melvin “Jack” Payne and Myrtle Bell (Kinney) Payne in Perry Oklahoma March 14th, 1936. Gerald went home to his heavenly father at the age of 84 December 18th 2020 after a short bout with the Covid19 virus. He had three brothers; Lawrence, Cleo and David. Over the years, Gerald had worked in the oil fields for Fred Pershall and others and had worked at the Perry Daily Journal as a type setter. Later, he and his wife Julia ran the local Mistletoe Express depot until its closing. He then went to work for Ditch Witch where he retired in 2001. After the loss of his wife Julia, Gerald married Cherie who has two children, Steven Myers and Kelly Ramey. Gerald and Cherie eventually moved to Weatherford to be near her family. Gerald was preceded in death by his mother and father, brothers Lawrence and Cleo, daughter Bonney and his previous wife Julia. He leaves behind his wife Cheri of Weatherford, OK, son Timothy of CA, son Micheal and his wife Jeanne of Broken Arrow, and brother David of Perry, OK. along with six grand kids and five great-grand kids. Visitation will be Wednesday Dec. 30th from 11:00 to 7:00 at Brown / Duggar funeral home.
The Family of Gerald Payne would like to invite the citizens of Perry and the surrounding areas to a reception honoring his life. Funeral Services will be held at 2 pm Jan 6, 2020, at the Brown Dugger Funeral Home chapel 1010 N 7th street, officiated by Josh Bell of the First Christian Church of Perry. After the service, friends and family are welcome to stay at the funeral home and have refreshments, tell stories, laugh and cry together. The family will be present after the service to receive guests, masks will be provided as well as hand sanitizer
