Gloria Fair

Gloria Elayne Bluethman Fair, 100, of Perry, Okla., the daughter of Adolph William and Essie Lynn (Isabell) Henrichsen, was born on August 24, 1921 in Needville, Texas. She passed away on January 18, 2022 at Primrose Assisted Living Center in Stillwater, Okla.

Gloria grew up in Needville and Rosenberg, Texas with her brother, Wilbert (Chic) and a sister, Shirley Jean.  She graduated from Rosenburg High School in 1938 as valedictorian and after graduation received a scholarship to attend Draughan’s Business College in Houston, Texas. She worked in the accounting department of Cole Theaters in Rosenburg before marrying John (Spitz) Alvin Bluethman on June 8, 1941.

Later they moved to Waco, Texas until Spitz left for the Navy in November, 1942. Gloria spent the war years in New Orleans working at the U.S. Naval Hospital until the war ended and then moved back to Waco, Texas. Their first child, John David, was born there. Spitz worked for Safeway Grocery Stores and in 1947 was transferred to Oklahoma City. Their second child, D’Alva Lynn, was born there. After transferring to Alva, Lawton and Perry, their third child Randy Ray was born in Perry.

Gloria worked at the Charles Machine Works for 25 years and in the latter years was the office manager. Her husband died in 1977. Later she met Dr. Edwin Fair from Ponca City, Okla., and they were married in 1979. During their 17 years of marriage, they traveled extensively around the world to more than 50 countries. This included touring Japan and China, a safari in Kenya, and as Methodist Volunteers in Slovakia in 1991. Ed and Gloria spent 15 winters as “Winter Texans” in the Rio Grande Valley in the Trophy Gardens RV Resort. Ed died in 1996.

At various times in her life, Gloria served on the Board of the United Fund,  a Director of the Noble County YMCA , President of the Perry Arts and Humanities ,  Habitat for Humanity, Stagecoach Community Theater, Petunia Garden Club, and Ladies’ Tuesday Afternoon Club. She had a love of gardening, traveling, quilting, and reading historical novels. She was affiliated with the First United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School classes, sang in the choir, was  a member of UMW, the church board and served on many committees. She enjoyed quilting with the Methodist Church Prayer Quilters’ Group. A special love of Gloria’s was making memories by traveling with her children and grandchildren.

Arrangements are under the direction of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home in Perry. Okla.

A memorial service will be held at the Perry First United Methodist Church on January 29, 2022 at 2:00 p.m.

Survivors include her sister, Shirley Hubenak of Edna,Texas; her children, John David Bluethman and wife Carol of Perry, Okla., D’Alva Lynn Biggert and husband Rick of Tulsa, Okla., and Randy Ray Bluethman and wife Kay of Oklahoma City, Okla.; nieces and nephews include Lisa Porche of Edna, Texas, Lori Lundy (Jim) of Bandera, Texas, Patti Broussard (Andy) of Richmond, Texas, Phil Henrichsen (Rhonda) of Magnolia, Texas and Don Henrichsen (Roseanna) of Baytown, Texas.

Grandchildren, Chris Bluethman of Tulsa, Okla., Angie Wagner and her husband Matt of Henderson, Nev., Travis Biggert and wife Stephanie of Tulsa, Okla., Tim Biggert of Colorado, Erica Bluethman (Vance Thong) of Princeton, Texas, Zack Bluethman and wife Lindsey of Bethany, Okla., Chad Davis and wife Melissa of Edmond, Okla., Jeff Davis and wife Tonya of Guthrie, Okla.

Great-grandchildren include Addie and Aubrey Wagner of Henderson, Nev., Ava and Parker Biggert of Tulsa, Okla., MacKenzie and Cameron Davis of Edmond, Okla., Eli Bluethman, Brandon Jones, Izzy Jones, Rachel Jones, Ally Jones of Bethany, Okla., Lucy, Kate, and Johnny Davis of Guthrie, Okla.

Step-daughters include Linda Lange (David) New Braunfels, Texas, Nancy Roshto, and Mary Lou Worthen (Deuard). Step-grandchildren include Peter Lange, New Braunfels, Texas, Lisa Lange Pena (Michael) North Bend, Washington, Karen Graham (Bryan), Brownwood, Texas, Alice Criswell (Jon), Emory, Texas, Angelique Kidd, St. Louis, Missouri, Travis Roshto, Tyler, Texas, Alexander Worthen, Richardson, Texas, Meredith Eddins (Brian), Norman Okla.

Step-great-grandchildren include Sebastian (Devin), U.S. Army, Irene Kidd, St. Louis, Missouri, Nathan (Nicole) Graham, Brownwood, Texas, Phillip, Reuben, Sam, and Issac Criswell, Emory, Texas, Gweneth Eddins, Norman, Okla.

Gloria was predeceased by her parents, Adolph and Essie Henrichsen,  husbands, John Alvin Bluethman, Dr. Edwin Fair, and her brother Wilbert (Chic) Henrichsen.

Memorial contributions may be made to Perry First United Methodist Church.
