Johnny Lee Avery has gone to heaven. He was born in Covington, OK the son of Fred Avery and Geraldine Lorraine Hearn Avery. He was raised in Covington and attended high school there. After high school he worked as a bull rider in the rodeo circuit. He also worked for many years as a professional wrestler traveling around the United States. He enjoyed fishing and hunting elk yearly in Colorado. He even moved to South Fork Colorado where he worked part time as a guide. Later in life, he worked as an over the road truck driver. He enjoyed listening to George Straight music and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Geraldine Avery and brother Danny Ray Avery
He leaves behind to mourn his loss his daughter Misty Avery of Enid, son Joey Avery of Oklahoma City, daughter Jacque Constantino of Tulsa, daughter Nicole Stephens of Mustang, son Steven Avery of Mustang, daughter Chelbi Lynn of Stillwater, daughter Taylor Ann Avery of Texas, grandchildren: Ethan Dunton, Emily Dunton, Christian Dunton, Jude Avery, Trinity Avery, Braden Stephens, Tatum Stephens. Also surviving are his special friend Louise Harris of Garber, sister Carolyn Morris of Perry, brother Freddy Avery and his wife Louise of Texas, sister Judy
Griffin and her husband Matt of Covington, brother Tommy Avery and his wife Sandra of Covington, brother Billy Avery and his wife Brenda of Covington, numerous nieces and nephews and a large extended family.
Friends are welcome to stop by Dugger Funeral Home of Garber on Tuesday 1/18 and Wednesday 1/19 from 10 am until 5 pm to pay their respects and sign his guestbook. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. on Thursday 1/20 at First Baptist Church of Covington, OK. Minister Phillip Gregg will officiate. Casket bearers include Brady Avery, Joey Avery, Steven Avery, Chris Dunton, Kode Metcalf, and Danny Avery.
