Wiley Stowers

November 1, 1929 — April 26, 2022

Garber, Oklahoma

Wiley August Stowers, 92, of Lamont, OK has entered the kingdom of heaven.  He was born on November 1, 1929 in Elmdale, KS to Everett L. Stowers and Ida Marie Koch Stowers.  Raised on a farm he attended a rural school in Garfield County.  After high school, he worked in the oil field until his retirement at age 65.  Wiley worked for a few companies over the years as a tool pusher and a rig hand.  He met the love of his life, Lucile Marie Kroll.   On July 9 of 1950, they were joined in holy matrimony at the Lutheran Church of Garber, the very church we will lay him to rest in this Sunday.  They were happily married for over 71 years.  He never quit farming though, he planted and harvested wheat and grew alfalfa to bale.  Wiley was a John Deere Man tried and true, he enjoyed cutting his own wheat as a younger man.  A great spoiler of grandchildren, Wiley was a devoted husband, father, and papa.  His favorite past time was spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He leaves behind to mourn his loss his wife, Lucile of the home, son David Stowers of North Carolina, daughter Rita Browning and her husband Terry of Lawton, son Gary Stowers and his wife Joyce of El Reno, grandchildren: Shandra Williamson and her husband Thomas of North Carolina, Eric Stowers of Hawaii, Brian Browning of Florida, Jason Browning and his wife Lisa of Lawton, Michael Browning and his wife Heather of Cache, Kyle Stowers and his wife Megan of Tuttle, Kris Stowers and his wife Brittany of Blanchard, 14 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

Friends are invited to the Lutheran Church of Garber, 601 Arapaho, Garber, OK 73738  on Sunday, May 1, 2022 from 12:30 until 1:30 before the funeral for a time of viewing and fellowship.  The Service will begin at 2 p.m. on Sunday May 1, 2022 at the Lutheran Church of Garber, OK.  Minister Mark Hein will officiate.   Casket Bearers for the service will include: Michael Browning, Jason Browning, Kyle Stowers, Kris Stowers, Eric Stowers, and Brian Browning.  There will not be an interment at this time.
