Kenneth Nida

December 16, 1932 — November 30, 2019

Today our hearts are heavy. Kenneth Edward Nida has gone to heaven. He will be missed immensely. Kenny was born on December 16, 1932 in Yellville, Arkansas to Ralph Robert Nida and his bride Bonnie Marie Reed Nida. He attended school in Orlando. He was baptized in the Christian Church as a young man of 12. After graduating high school, he joined the United States Army where he bravely served his country. While serving he met the love of his life, a pretty young lady names Viva Dean. It didn’t take Kenny long to make her his wife. They joined in holy matrimony in Arkansas in October of 1954. They were happily married for 65 years. Kenny loved pushing dirt. His bulldozer was his favorite toy. If you couldn’t find him near Viva Dean, he was on that bulldozer with a big grin on his face. He was also an avid and accomplished hunter. Whether it was quail, duck, dove, rabbits, elk or deer, Kenny would hunt it. He loved being outdoors. He also really enjoyed traveling with his family. Just a few days before he passed he said to Viva Dean that he wanted to go all over the USA in a motorhome. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, brother Ralph Vorie, nieces Nancy and Shirley and nephew Kenny Bob. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Viva Dean, of the home, daughter Trina Marie McVicker and her husband Jim of Perry, daughter Barbara Ann Branson and her husband John of Waukomis, daughter Betty Darlene Hansard and her husband Mark of Tulsa, grandchildren Jennifer, Kenny, Rebecca, Daryl Ann, Cloyd, Melissa, Amanda, and Bryce, eight great grandkids, sister Doris Alexander from Texas, and sister Bonnita Foster and her husband Curly of Perry, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside services under the direction of Brown Dugger Funeral Home will begin at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at the Covington Cemetery in Covington, Oklahoma. The minister Claudine Williams will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the Diabetes charity of your choice.
